Blacking OutFashion & Beauty
As deeply as I love fashion, I am rarely one to jump on trends and experiment too far out of my comfort zone. One of the advantages of age is that I know what I like, and I know what I won’t like no matter how “in” it is. Still, some days I get stuck in a rut or am just not feeling particularly inspired by the contents of my closet.
My failsafe solution? The all-black outfit.
It’s so easy, and never goes out of style. Even better? It’s universally flattering and transitions well from day to night.
Black also hides a lot of sins, including minor weight fluctuations (oh hello, Aunt Flow!) and the inevitably dirty fingers of my children.
Even in an all-black ensemble, however, you can add subtle details to add dimension and personality to your look. I’ve had this blazer from Banana Republic for years, and I love the faux-leather collar. It’s just that tiny bit “extra” and I dig it.
This Coach bag was one of my first “grown-up” bag purchases many years ago, but I still pull it out from time to time and love how it holds everything I need and matches any outfit.
Do you have a failsafe back-up plan when you don’t know what to wear? Please share it in the comments, and thank you so much for reading!
