Color Edit: Ultra VioletFashion & Beauty
Every December Pantone announces their choice for Color of the Year for the upcoming calendar year. For 2018, that color is Ultra Violet. It’s definitely on the blue side of the purple spectrum, and is described as “provocative and thoughtful” (Pantone.com). In their own words, here is how Pantone describes Ultra Violet:
Does anyone else have Purple Rain now playing in their head? To me this shade of purple is exactly the one I identify with Prince, and what an appropriate tribute the year after his passing. At any rate, I love doing color edits and rounding up the best products I can find that fit the theme so here are my favorite Ultra Violet finds!
I am a huge lover of sheet masks, and I cannot get over how beautiful the packaging is on this one from Origins. They are on backorder at Nordstrom, but there are a few left on Amazon so click the link to get yours before they’re gone!
If I treat myself to nothing else in this post it will be this travel mug. With three kids I cannot function without coffee, and I love this spill-proof travel mug. Plus I’ll look so trendy sipping out of my Color of the Year coffee mug, LOL!
I’ll admit when I first saw this shade of purple I didn’t immediately think of home goods, but it actually makes a lovely accent color. This throw pillow would add a punch to my all-white bedding or nestled in the corner of an armchair. And for under $20, why not?
Ok, tell me this isn’t the most beautiful eyeshadow you’ve ever seen and I’ll call you a liar! Tom Ford always nails their cosmetics, from packaging to product quality, and this shadow in shade Purple Reign will be perfect with hazel eyes like mine. Sold!
As usual, Etsy absolutely nails it with the perfect wall print featuring the Color of the Year. How gorgeous would this look in a guest bedroom or a bathroom with silver or gold accents?
This is the pie-in-the-sky item for this edit, and unless something magical happens these will remain in my dreams. Still, I have a deep fondness for scrolling endlessly through Net-a-Porter and if I had cash to burn this is how I would rock the violet trend in 2018. A girl can dream, right?
Butter London is one of a select group of official Pantone licensees, so every year they launch a collection featuring the Color of the Year. In addition to this beautiful nail polish, they also have lip colors and eye liner in the same shade. I’ve linked to their official site here, but you can also find their products at Ulta!
One place you’re guaranteed to see a heavy presence of the Pantone Color of the Year is in the home decor magazines. Sure enough, Etsy already has the matching paint available! While I wouldn’t be brave enough to do a whole room in this color, I do think it would make a stunning accent wall in my guest bathroom that has brushed nickel hardware. Should I go for it? We’ll see!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this color edit. If you’ve found any other products in this color be sure to share them in the comments below!
